What’s the best way to extensively cover Polity for Prelims, besides reading Laxmikanth end to end?

Static part can be covered from Laxmikanth, and doesn’t change much. Key differentiator will be dynamic polity part, for which you need to focus on recent amendments and landmark judgments.

Dynamic part will be more than just amendments and judgments. Anything in the news having a polity angle should be covered. For example, there is currently a debate going on about Governor’s powers to veto state government bills, so this topic becomes important. New parliament building so we may have to read up about the building itself. There’s no shortcut for the dynamic polity part.

For me, what worked was mastering all old PYQs and then revising the standard books. Once you answer all previous questions, you’ll realize that UPSC keeps rephrasing similar themes — President vs Governor powers, DPSPs, EC independence, etc. So understand the flavour of questions first and then re-read the books to absorb better.
